We started our trip by visiting Fredericksburg's Trade Days. They have this market once a month. It was a bunch of vendors selling anything you could think of. Unfortunately it wasn't as homemade and crafty as I wanted. I only walked away with one decoration. It was interesting to see all the ironwork and cowhides. After all, we are in Texas now.
Shopping always works up an appetite so we head back in town. We went to the local brew pub, Fredericksburg Brewing Company. Their beer was amazing! They had a wide range of items on their menu, including a small selection of German. We started with the cheese ale soup, which I highly recommend. It's especially good if you dip the rolls in it.
In Fredericksburg you can walk around with your drinks in hand. We enjoyed a glass beer after dinner while walking Main Street. It was enchanting! Afterwards we headed to Acorn St. B&B and called it a night.
Unfortunately the next morning I headed back to San Antonio for a meeting. I made it back in Fredericksburg just in time for lunch. The local Knights of Columbus were hosting a Bestfest in the middle of town. We headed there for all-you-can-eat sausage and local brews. The best part was us supporting a local group while enjoying ourselves. There was even a couple of German folk bands playing and couples dancing!
Needing to walk off all that sausage, we enjoyed the shops on Main Street. There were plenty of things to look at! It is a cute town; if you ever get the chance to visit, do it! It has a lot of history too.
For dinner we went to Fredericksburg Herb Farm. Unfortunately the Herb Farm part was closed, but we still walked around. There a little cabins there and we want to stay at one next time we come. They are so cute! The restaurant was beautiful. It was smaller so it seemed intimate and private. Our meal was delicious!
After an amazing meal we ventured to a wine bar I had found on Yelp. It did not disappoint! Lincoln St. Wine Bar was the perfect way to end a great night. We shared a wonderful bottle of wine on their patio. They had fire pits everywhere so finding heat was not a problem. The live band that was playing was enjoyable as well. We both really enjoyed it!
On Sunday we visited the wineries near Fredericksburg. There are whole bunch of them, so we chose our top 3 choices to go to. We went to Grape Creek, Pedernales, and Becker's. We really enjoyed Grape Creek and Becker's; so much we joined both of their wine clubs! At Becker's we were able to sit outside and soak in the beautiful weather. It was lovely!
We headed back into town for lunch. We drove by Hondo's all weekend so we decided to try it. It was yummy food and had a lovely patio. Every night it was busy and now I know why! We will definitely visit it again when we come back. We had a great weekend in Fredericksburg!
